Abstract
The village of Skycov was chosen at the site for the study of the process of reprivatization in post-socialist Slovakia. The focus of the research is the social impact of decollectivization on the lives of the residents and former owners of agricultural land. An examination of the life histories of villagers who have lived through the social, political and economic upheavals in Czechoslovakia during the twentieth century reveals the way in which people conceptualize their world, and the conditions and events that motivate their actions.
