Abstract
A solid precipitation model has been proposed for the liquid-solid equilibrium based on the Flory-Huggins polymer solution theory along with a modification to account for the colloidal suspension effect of insoluble solid particles in the fluid mixture. The correlations of the liquid solubility parameter, the heat capacity difference, the heat of fusion, and the temperature of fusion are developed for the model. A multimodel multiphase flash algorithm was formulated using an equation of state for vapor-liquid equilibrium and the proposed model for liquid-solid equilibrium. The effects of pressure, temperature and composition on solid precipitation from reservoir fluid were examined and fitted against the measured incipient solid precipitation temperatures and the amount of solvent added to the system during the titration test. A laser detection technique was employed to perform the experimental tests at the conditions of high pressure and temperature. A detailed discussion of the model performance and the effect of the model parameters on the fitting of the experimental results is also presented.
