Abstract
This report presents the findings of a state-wide survey of gambling involvement and problem gambling among adolescents in Washington State. This is the first adolescent study initiated and funded
by a state lottery and the first study that allows comparisons of adolescent and adult gambling involvement in the same jurisdiction. A random sample of 1,054 Washington State adolescents aged 13 to 17 was interviewed in January and February of 1993 about the types of gambling in which they had ever participated, the amounts of money they spend on gambling, the problems related to their gambling and about other risky behaviors including alcohol and drug use.
