Abstract
The Taylor Family Digital Library (TFDL) at the University of Calgary officially opened in Fall 2011 as a leading edge 21st century academic library designed to enhance and support the learning and knowledge creation experience by providing resources, new technology, new spaces and new services to its users. The Learning Commons in the TFDL includes the general service public spaces, classrooms, workrooms, and open study areas over six floors. The students have made the library the main meeting and working space on campus and their presence continues to grow. This presentation will provide an overview of the TFDL Learning Commons spaces, technology to support learning, and service program. It will highlight the opportunities, successes, challenges and lessons learned so far.
