This report presents the results of the second survey of gambling and problem gambling in the State of Iowa. The main purpose of this study was to examine the hypothesis that increases in the availability of legalized gambling lead to increases in the prevalence of problem gambling. A large sample of Iowa residents aged 18 and over (N=1,500) were interviewed in February and March, 1995 about the types of gambling they have tried, the amounts of money they spend on gambling, and about gambling-related difficulties. The information in this report is also valuable in the further development of services for problem gamblers in Iowa.eng
