Abstract
The present study wants to establish the cumulative effects caused by the existing human actions in the region of Nueva Loja on the Valued Ecosystem component, the Water Quality of the Aguarico River that, along with the construction of the new crude oil pipeline that is to be built in the region, will increase the possibility of causing bigger damages and environmental impacts to the ecosystem, considering spatial and temporal boundaries area where the possible impacts of these cumulative effects will occur. I will also recommend several mitigation measures that are meant to deduce the environmental impacts caused by the existing human activities in the region. This document establishes a base upon which future cumulative effects studies can take place, not only in the Nueva Loja region but also in those areas in which large projects like the construction of the OCP could affect the existing ecosystems of Ecuador.
