Abstract
This article describes how existing expert systems in parallel disciplines might be used to address problems facing insurance regulators. It further describes how an expert system might enhance the value of the NAIC's IRIS system. It concludes with descriptions of the processes involved in building an expert system and the costs and problems likely to be encountered.Refereed
