Solar Energy Feasibility Study For Botswana To Reduce Electricity Dependence On Foreign Supply
Abstract
The main intention of this study is to analyze the feasibility of the adoption of solar energy in Botswana on a large scale which could be used to decrease dependence on electricity imported from South Africa. The study presents a proposal that would be sustainable and innovative in a particular geographical area, Tlokweng, in the southeast section of Botswana. To measure the feasibility of the study, innovation strategies from existing energy policies and the environmental law of the country are considered, along with the role and goals of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), as well as Botswana’s Vision 2016 Program. The analysis of the project’s feasibility is based on the assessment of economic, social and environment strategies and impacts.
