Abstract

The main goal of this project was to review current situation in the implementation of sustainability principles in government organisations and particularly the Alberta Health Services. There were proposed integrated design principles for community with middle size hospital as its part. Scenario 1 calculations cover situation for existing building with PV implementation into some hospital site structures and parking lots. Scenario 2 demonstrates the impact of the changed design principles, which are focused on maximising of PV electrical generation for the same site. Scenario 3 demonstrates potential and future community concept, which will be able to achieve net zero or net plus for electricity and overall community sustainability. The following calculations were performed for all three scenarios: annual electrical generation from PV, reduction of the GHG, financial feasibility, and PV LCA.
