Abstract
The Digest is arranged by subject matter, starting with general industry data (venues, games, charitable gaming licences), followed by revenues; revenue distributions; gambling participation; problem gambling prevalence; problem gambling assistance; and on-site information and support at gaming venues. Data in each section is presented in tables and figures. Accompanying text describes the data and highlights some of its more salient features. While considerable effort was made to ensure that the data in a given table or figure is comparable across provinces, this was not always possible due to differences in record keeping and other factors. Unless stated otherwise, all data pertain to fiscal 2011-12 (April 1 st, 2011 to March 31st, 2012). Revenues have been rounded off to the nearest thousand. New to this year’s report is the inclusion of the document, Organization and Management of Gambling in Canada. The information in this document—which features an overview of the operation, regulation and management of gambling in each province — will give readers of the Digest a more encompassing look at the similarities and differences in how gambling is run across the country.
