Practical Considerations To Implementing A State-of-the-art Air Emissions Management System To Improve Environmental Compliance For Energy Companies In Western Canada
Abstract
Overall goal of this project was to identify practical considerations to implementing advanced air emissions inventory management system. Understanding the nexus between regulatory and data driven considerations is of paramount importance for successful implementations of environmental management information systems. No less important is the actual selection of EMIS based on clearly defined business and regulatory requirements. Concise summaries of these requirements were focused on upstream oil and gas companies with operations in Western Canada. As there is virtually no available academic literature on the topics of EMIS design and selection, the author considered it his obligation to cover the subject matter in greater detail. Particular emphasis is on datadriven considerations, which include practical examples of various data elements, system workflows and automations. It is hoped that lessons learned from this work will be used by organizations in their efforts to select and implement a state-of-the-art air emissions inventory management system.
