This development has been spurred by two powerful forces: advances and convergence in computing and communications that make it possible and create demand, and the visual orientation of our world that encourages that demand.” Dr. Suzanna Simor (Art Librarian). The implementation, development and the ongoing management of visual digital image collections and services requires examination of a broad range of issues. This presentation will provide an overview of many of these topics including: acquiring digital images, metadata, library and other data standards, partnerships, copyright, digital rights management, and teaching tools. Converging interests of varying groups of educational institutions, museums, archives, and libraries often result in collaborative projects.
