Oliver and the Rosettis Studio. William John Oliver, 1887-1954, began his photography career in 1910 as a newspaper photographer for the Morning Albertan and later the Calgary Herald. Opening the W.J. Oliver Photographic Studio in 1912, Bill Oliver went on to become one of Canada’s most well-known adventure, nature, and documentary photographers. The Calgary-based Rosettis Studio, owned by Joe and Kay Rosettis, operated in Calgary from 1943 to 1965. Joe Rosettis worked as a staff photographer for the Kodak Company, Associated Screen News, and the Calgary Herald. Joe later freelanced for the Herald and the Albertan while working as a contract photographer for local corporations, including the Calgary Stampede and the Glenbow Foundation.engUnless otherwise indicated, this material is protected by copyright and has been made available with authorization from the copyright owner.
