University of Calgary, Calgary, AB.http://hdl.handle.net/1880/109844This Master’s Degree Project (MDP) develops a tool that supports the decision making process in the planning process within the municipality. It collects all the available information related to mobile sources in Quito and calculates the emission inventory in the city. An important characteristic is to give this information a geographical representation using Geographical Information Systems as the platform. At the same time it designs a set of different characteristics for the system that allows it to be used as a decision making tool support for pollution management in the city. This is a contribution towards the creation of an Urban Air Quality Management System that is necessary for setting real air quality standards for the city. This project also provides information that the municipality can utilize in its interactions with the community.engUniversity of Calgary graduate students retain copyright ownership and moral rights for their thesis.
