Solano, Director, Health Services Policy Research Group (HSPRG), University of Delaware. This report analyzes the costs and consequences of legalized gambling in Delaware. The legalization of slot machine gambling in 1995 stimulated the growth of a new sector of the Delaware labor force. This sector includes jobs at gambling establishments and jobs in supporting services, such as hotels, restaurants, and bars. Gambling also brings visitors from out-of-state who spend money at stores, gas stations, motels, and restaurants. Besides these economic benefits, legalized gambling has resulted in substantial costs and consequences, including those associated with excessive debt and bankruptcy, divorce, embezzlement, and child neglect.engGambling -- DelawareCompulsive gambling -- DelawareGambling -- Economic aspects -- DelawareGambling -- Social aspects -- DelawareGambling LiteratureThe Costs and Consequences of Gambling In the State of Delawaretechnical reporthttp://dx.doi.org/10.11575/PRISM/9797
