Item Open Access Where Canadian social work educators situate the natural environment – an exploration(2012-09-25) Burns, Deborah M.; Lysack, MishkaThis study explores the level of importance and the degree of inclusion social work educators give to the natural environment in Canadian social work university courses and curricula. Social work education and environmental intersections are explored through the reports submitted by 121 Canadian university social work educators who constitute this exploratory study’s sample group. Their responses to an on-line survey provide preliminary insight into the importance and inclusion they assign the natural environment in the courses they teach and addresses both supports and constraints that influence their curriculum planning. The information gleaned from this pilot study points to possible next steps for curriculum development as well as directions for more complex and in-depth research.
