Item Open Access Human Footprint Intensity Mapping: A tool for tracking human footprint change in the Calgary Region(Miistakis Institute, 2017-02) Chernoff, Gregg; Greenaway, GuyThe Human Footprint Comparison project was the primary effort under the Ecological Data Update. The intent was to create a spatially-explicit representation of the land use and natural features in the Calgary Region around a set of pre-determined themes. The Human Footprint Comparison focused on the goal of showing the changes in human use and development on the landscape between the first Calgary Metropolitan Plan (2009) and the second (2014). The intent was not to assess the “good” or the “bad” of that hange, but simply give the CRP and its members a databased picture of how and where development occurred between the two plans which could then be compared to the goals that had been set out in the plans.Item Open Access Measuring Up: A Preliminary Assessment of Potential CRP EcoPlan Sub-Theme Measures(Miistakis Institute, 2015-12) Chernoff, GreggThis report is intended to provide the CRP and other stakeholders with some solid guidance as to the opportunities and challenges in the practical measurement of the CRP EcoPlan Themes.Item Open Access Pulling the Levers: A Guide to Modelling and Mapping Ecological Connectivity(Miistakis Institute, 2016-03) Chernoff, GreggLandscape connectivity is a key component of the CRP’s Calgary Metropolitan Plan, and is emerging as a critical sub-theme of the Landscape Health theme within the nascent CRP Ecological Conservation and Protection Initiative (EcoPlan). Connectivity is a key piece of the regional conservation puzzle, and is mentioned as important in the planning documents of many CRP member municipalities. However, there are many issues working against the meaningful consideration of connectivity in regional or local planning.
