Item Open Access Impact of QR-based In-Class Assignments on Student Engagement and Retention(2017-05) Harlick, Ania; Goulding, RichardWe explore the potential of using quick response (QR) code sheets a tool for formative assessment, feedback, as well as a way to increase class engagement, student participation, and retention. The procedure was designed to allow for in-time learning, development of skills associated with science literacy, and improvement of communication abilities. Data collected by the authors in multiple classes show not only a strong correlation between students’ engagement in the activity and their final grade but also demonstrate an overwhelming positive attitude towards the process.
