There are unspoken rules about what behaviour is acceptable while riding with a stranger. If these rules are broken, the remainder of the elevator ride becomes unbelievably uncomfortable. If a stranger casts their gaze in any direction other than towards the doors, this can threaten the delicate agreement that tacitly exists between the occupants of the elevator, turning the mood into an emotional pressure cooker. A Delicate Agreement is a gaze-triggered interactive art installation that explores this concept. It is a set of elevator doors with a peephole in either side that entices viewers to peer inside and observe an animation of the passengers. Each elevator passenger, or character, has a programmed personality that enables them to act and react to the other characters' behaviour and the viewers' gaze. The result is the emergence of a rich interactive narrative made up of encounters between the characters.Item Open Access a process of loss: a written accompaniment to the thesis exhibition(2005) Morrow, Beth; Deacon, PeterItem Open Access A Revelation of order and form(1986) Allingham, Lionel; Deacon, PeterItem Open Access "A soft touch": a written accompaniment to the thesis exhibition(1992) Major, Mary Jo; Laing, WilliamItem Open Access accumulation/ablation(2010) Colwell, Diane Edith; McConnell, Clyde S.Item Open Access Air series: places of enchantment(2005) Lang, Timothy; Kostyniuk, Ronald L.Item Open Access All that has happened since: a written accompaniment to the thesis exhibition(2001) Hatton, Sarah Joanne; Irwin, JedItem Open Access Allotted time in motion: a written accompaniment to the thesis exhibition(1998) Kenderes, Steve; Arnatt, RayItem Open Access Am I an encyclopedia?(2004) Evans, Benjamin M.; Cameron, EricItem Open Access An architecture of space: a written accompaniment to the thesis exhibition(2007) Thoreson, Kristine; McConnell, Clyde S.Item Open Access An examination of the relationship between the style New Realism in painting and modern art and between New Realism and traditional Realism(1974) Foo Fat, Dulcie; Kiyooka, Harry M.Item Open Access Ancestral portrait: a written accompaniment to the thesis exhibition(2002) McDonald, Frederick Raymond; Cameron, EricItem Open Access Annora Brown: forming a regionalist sensibility(2005) Alderson, Patricia A.; Simmons, GeoffreyItem Open Access Apologia: for my painting : an accompaniment to the thesis exhibition(1988) Campbell, Timothy C.; Hushlak, GeraldItem Open Access Asante goldweights: a measure of change and continuity(1993) Severson, Patricia Anne; Mato, DanielItem Open Access Aspects of restricted space in my work(1988) King, Pam; Irwin, JedItem Open Access Behind the red curtain(2009) Edwards, Adina; Huynh, Kim
