Meeting the goal of accessing health information in developing countries and facing the necessity to scale up the use of antiretrovirals (ARVs) in low resource settings, the Institute of Tropical Medicine, Antwerp (ITMA) set up a computer aided training programme for health providers, working in disadvantaged areas. Home monitoring and homecare applications will allow older people to stay at home instead of being institutionalized, and thus relieve the burden on the public health system.
