dc.description.abstractDownhole Annular Heating is a novel technique proposed in this thesis to provide a safer and more intensive heating density downhole for injection and production wells. A prototype with the same layout proposed was constructed to test the feasibility of the concept. Other experimental setups were used to examine some of the parameters affecting the performance of the suggested heating element. Potential applications of the proposed system involves heating injected air and water downhole for combustion and hot waterflooding projects. The system could also be used to actively insulate the well in order to maintain the temperature of the injected steam/hot water or the oil produced from hot formations or from thermal enhanced oil recovery methods. Microsoft Excel and VBA was used to examine the power requirement and other operational variables for the suggested applications.en_US
