Abstract
Phase 3 of the Planning and Technical Study on Water and Wastewater Servicing in the Calgary Region was completed by CH2M HILL for Calgary Regional Partnership (CRP) in April 2012. Two issues, the Town of Okotoks’ growth strategy and the City of Calgary proposal for a wholly-owned subsidiary to manage outside servicing, have delayed the full approval of the Phase 3 report. With the resolution of these two issues, the CRP Board now wishes to update the Phase 3 Report for more current infrastructure cost estimates, and bring the updated Study back to CRP’s Board and Executive Committee for approval. The update focused on two key areas – population projections used in Phase 3, and the updating the resulting capital cost of infrastructure. The infrastructure sizing and cost estimation in the servicing analysis in Phase 3 was based on the population projections developed for the Calgary Metropolitan Plan (CMP) as shown in Table ES-1.
