Construction productivity improvement activities in the industry has seen many developments in terms of new tools, techniques and processes been introduced through researches and practices. However, on site studies and literature surveys confirm that there is still a huge potential exists in the industry for further improvements. This study identified two major issues prevails in the industry hindering productivity performances. One reason being the productivity improvement process itself has been built into other site management processes and no prime concern by the management. The other one being a spinoff from the first one that is there is no assigned person in the site to plan control and monitor productivity improvement activities. This paper discusses a new framework for the implementation of productivity improvement activities on a construction site, making the productivity control process more systematic, accountable and sustainable with the creation of a novel and dedicated position, the construction productivity improvement officer (CPIO) on construction sites. Proposed Task Based Productivity Loss Control framework (TBPLCI) and tools will assist CPIO in performing productivity tasks in the site more objectively with close control.
