Optimal Co2 Abatement Timing- Natural Gas Emitters Under 50 Ktco2e & Implications For Alberta
Abstract
Recent research suggests benefit from a delayed Greenhouse gas emissions reduction strategy for non regulated emitters. However, these recommendations have typically ignored the maturation of a corporation’s capital stock and the value of potential CO2 offset credits. This research explored a series of financial models suitable to evaluate the profitability of reducing fugitive emissions. The results suggest that under many different policy and market conditions, reductions are economical and can result in profits. Recommendations stemming from this report advocate for a re-evaluation of provincial regulations and corporate tactics.
