Gambling in Canada: Triumph, Tragedy or tradeoff? was a three year independent and objective national study of gambling in Canada running from September 1998 to October 2001. It remains the only national study on gambling policy in Canada. Four overarching research areas were explored: (1) the impact of gambling on the non-profit sector; (2) opinions, attitudes and public policy implications of gambling; (3) the history and scope of gambling in Canada; and, (4) the socio-economic impact of gambling on communities. Through the work in these areas, the project provided a much-needed comprehensive picture of the issues surrounding gambling in Canada.en_US
