dc.description.abstract | Prepared in partial fulfillment of the requirements of the M.E.Des. (Industrial Design) degree in the Faculty of Environmental Design, University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. This Master's Degree Project proposes the re-design of SMED lnternational's LifeSPACEā¢ moveable walls in response to the characteristics of the changing workplace, the necessities of the contemporary user, and the qualities of the working environment. It is believed that the existing product already provides the market with exceptional functional and performance requirements. Consequently, this project will focus on how the product relates to the changing workplace in terms of use, perception and meaning. Project parameters include extensive marketplace research, conceptual design explorations, design refinement and detailing. Design concepts are illustrated in a series of graphic panels, drawings, models and written documentation. | |
