dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this study was was to investigate the role of the bookmaker in society. To accomplish this task, interviews were conducted with bookmakers in the Province of Alberta. In total, ten bookmakers were interviewed, none of whom took wagers on horse racing. The horse racing bookmakers woubd not consent to be interviewed. Each bookmaker was visited twice and in some cases three times to gather sufficiant data.en
