dc.description.abstract | This thesis focuses on the optimization of a coal-fired power plant with carbon capture and amine storage and the importance of the modelling parameters to the objective and scheduling result. The first part of this thesis will develop a linear mixed-integer model for a coal-fired power plant that considers the power losses in the steam cycle that come from simultaneous and separate changes in the operation levels of the power plant and carbon dioxide stripper. The model developed will be compared to a model representing the methods used in current literature. The second part of this thesis will perform a sensitivity analysis on the modelling parameters in order to recommend the areas of carbon capture and amine storage modelling that would benefit from increased detail in future work. The analysis will consider the effect of the parameters on the optimization objective and the resulting schedule. | en_US |
