dc.description.abstractThe article discusses the decision in the case of R. v. Sault Ste. Marie and its impact on Canadian law. The authors state that Brian Dickinson, Chief Justice of Canada, defined and inserted the category of strict liability offence which gives rise to the due diligence defence. They note that water pollution concerns in Sault Saint Marie, Michigan and Ontario has now been identified. They mention that the city has committed to keep its water through continuous surveillance and maintenance.en_US
