Abstract
This FearTalk 4 (in a series) is Part 1, with a Part 2 to follow, where R. Michael Fisher hosts an emergent authentic dialogue with two women who have thought deeply about the divine feminine, slow activism and scholarship, as well as exploring their own fear, anxiety and the context of how women are particularly susceptible to the pathological patriarchy as part of everyday living. As artists and researchers they explore the role of art as medicine, the role of dreams, imagination, and intuitions of hauntings and many other topics that are part of an emancipatory process working with intuitive darkness as transformation. This FearTalk 4 is dedicated to Dr. Carl Leggo, UBC for his inspiring work over many years, and may his recovery from cancer proceed in healing ways for all involved. She is currently a second year PhD student at the University of British Columbia, and a research fellow with the UBC Geography, Urban Studies Lab. She has completed an interdisciplinary Master of Arts in Globalization Studies from the Institute on Globalization and the Human Condition at McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario. Barbara Bickel is an artist, researcher, and educator currently practicing in Calgary, Alberta, Canada where she co-founded Studio M*: A Research Creation Lab Intersecting Arts, Culture and Healing in 2017. An Associate Professor of Art Education, Emeritas at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, USA she teaches art as an inquiry, healing and interdisciplinary meaning making process. Her art and research interests include arts-based research, trance-based inquiry, collaboration, socially engaged art, connective aesthetics, spirituality, matrixial theory, and restorative and transformative learning.
