Course Description: In this graduate-level Open Studies course students examine fundamental questions related to teaching and learning ethically in online and remote contexts. The course will cover both theoretical and practical issues related to educational ethics, academic integrity and fair and just assessment. Through inquiry and project-based learning, students will explore how online and remote learning can not only engage learners with integrity, but equip them with knowledge, critical thinking skills and an understanding of ethical conduct that they can carry with them beyond their formal education as responsible citizens in an increasingly complex world, both online and offline. The course is open to graduate students, educators, administrators, higher education professionals, instructional designers and others with a commitment to ethical learning in online contexts. Topics to be explored in this course include, but are not limited to: (1) power, privilege and ethics in teaching and learning; (2) frameworks for ethical learning in online and remote contexts; (3) ethics in assessment of student learning. Guest speakers will be invited to share their perspectives.en_US
